LANDWELL

a hub for regenerative living,
cultural innovation
and community resilience

Nestled on 22 acres in the ancient wetland valley of Jonive, in Sebastopol, California, Landwell stands as a beacon of hope—a visionary initiative addressing the global polycrisis, where interlocking challenges impact our planet and humanity.

Over the last several years, Landwell has emerged as a testament to regenerative living, cultural innovation, and community resilience, and our learning journey continues to unfold.

A STORY OF HOPE

At Landwell we have worked to design and live into place-based values - where ecological restoration blends with small-scale agriculture, and cooperatively managed, affordable housing co-exists with education and public access.

We are working to become long-term stewards in relationship with indigenous communities and this wetland valley. This potent place is home to birds, frogs, majestic old-growth oaks, foxes, medicinal plants, and wild foods.

Our vision is to ensure the flourishing of this social ecosystem well beyond our time.

We’ve partnered with Living Lands Trust and RSF Social Finance to take the title of this land from the speculative market, ensuring the protection of its grove, waters, wildlife, and farmlands from commodification.

A PLACE FOR GROWING KINSHIP

At the heart of Landwell is the core principle of growing kinship. Here, the individuals and families who call Landwell home are not just residents; we are the driving force behind the creative projects that serve the broader community, region, and beyond.

As a hub for regenerative living, cultural innovation, and community resilience, residential stewards lead initiatives in the areas of restoration and healing, education and learning, and creative arts and imagination.

Landwell’s affordable housing model ensures accessibility through a limited equity cooperative. This approach to housing fosters community stability and empowers residential stewards to collectively own and manage homes while honoring the sovereignty of the land.
